Events diary:

The calender below shows forthcoming society events and other events related to mining history that may be of interest.  You can click on individual days/events on the calender to retrieve further details.  If you are the organiser or promoter of a (not-for-profit) event that you would like listed here, please send details through to the webmaster - details are on the contact us page.

Some events, such as underground meets or surface walks, can be liable to last-minute changes due to weather conditions, or the ability to gain permission for access/parking/etc.  Where possible we try to keep this diary up-to-date, so it is worth double-checking meet details here prior to setting out!

Leader: Paul Chandler. A Masson Caving Group trip - PDMHS members welcome.
An evening trip, beginning at 7.15pm. Party size is limited. To book your place(s), and for meeting arrangements, please contact Paul on 01246 220773 or email him at: meets@pdmhs.com.

This trip is being organised primarily as a training trip for prospective mine leaders, but is open to all. The plan is to explore the short mine workings off the large entrance, followed by the popular 'through trip' in the mined Lower Series. Easy/moderate grade, dry (apart from puddles), but muddy.

Brief details of the 'through trip': A scrambly climb at the entrance (using a handline), followed by a tightish squeeze, a number of large, impressive, mined/natural caverns are visited, along with other scrambly bits, plus a walking size passage and finally a short, roomy crawl in the metal tube at the exit. In essence, more like a caving trip than a mine trip! Optional drink after the trip locally.
